Frequently asked questionsWe all have questions . . . . . and here are a few of the most common ones asked about us. Why are you so casual? At the Vineyard, we place a high priority upon openness and flexibility, believing that such a climate is conducive to personal, relational and spiritual growth. We are loosely structured to allow for change, freshness and innovation. While we bless and appreciate those churches who worship within a tightly formulated liturgy and structure, we have chosen to express our praise to God in a rather non-traditional and informal environment. Expressive and spontaneous celebration is valued and cherished here. Our dress is casual, but our hearts are serious before the Lord Why use a worship band and not an organ? Worship at the Vineyard is about being culturally relevant. Our desire is for people to be able to walk off the street, into our worship service and not feel out of place or like they have stepped back in time a hundred years. We try to make everything we do and say easy to understand and relevant for a person living today. This is why we have a contemporary style worship band. This style of music has become relevant and meaningful to our culture today. Why do you worship for such a long time? We value intimacy with God and often it takes time for people to re-focus and open themselves up to the Lord. Therefore, on a Sunday mornings we worship for 30-40 minutes. Why do you allow coffee in the Auditorium? We allow coffee and drinks for the same reason we dress casually. We want everyone who comes to feel comfortable and at home, just as you would in your own family room. We believe this climate is conducive to personal, relational and spiritual growth.
